Shaw L Yu

Dr. Yu, after earning his Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 1968, taught for thirty-five years at several universities including Rutgers, Tulane and the University of Virginia. Dr. Yu is recognized internationally as an expert in stormwater best management practices (including LID practices), nonpoint source pollution control technology and watershed management. He has co-authored a book and published more than 180 technical articles and reports and has consulted for many government organizations and private companies. Since 1968 Dr. Yu has been a principal or co-principal investigator of more than 80 research projects sponsored by governmental agencies, private entities and in collaboration with colleagues in China。Dr. Yu is currently a Life Member and a member of the Urban Water Resources Research Council and Honorary Diplomat of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).  Dr. Yu has been a Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing University Shenzhen Graduate School, Beijing Normal University, Nanchang University, Taiwan University, Cheng-Kung University and Taipei University of Technology. Dr. Yu has attended, organized and chaired many professional society conference sessions and workshops. In recent years he has organized and chaired an International Conference on Watershed Management. Five of them were held in China (Shenzhen 2004, Chengdu 2005, Nanchang 2007, Beijing 2011 and Tianjin 2014). Dr. Yu helped organize and held the 2016 International LID Conference in Beijing, and is currently assisting the organization of the 2018 Sponge City Conference to be held in Xi’an.
